At the third-anniversary inauguration of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, singer Velmurugan, who sang praising Vijay as Murugan, has been given an honorary position by the TVK government.
The TVK government has appointed him as a member of the committee that appoints the chairpersons and members of the trustee boards of temples that generate income of more than ten lakh rupees.
You may remember that a few days ago, the Tamil Nadu government announced that applications were being invited for the appointment of trustees for temples across Tamil Nadu that come under the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department.
Many VIPs and party members are competing fiercely for this post.
In this situation, the Tamil Nadu government has today issued an order appointing a committee to select the trustees.

Singer Velmurugan is also part of that committee, which includes film producer Archana Kalpathi and spiritual speaker Sumathisri, among others.
We spoke to him about this.
''For someone as ordinary as me, getting this responsibility in the government, especially in the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, is a great recognition. I express my heartfelt thanks to the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam government for that. I will definitely do whatever is needed for that job with honesty''' he says.
You may remember that some people had then filed a police complaint saying that he sang on the TVK stage, treating Vijay as Lord Murugan.
