Chennai: Chief Minister Vijay has instructed officials to ensure that the funds allocated for the development of SCs and STs are fully utilized and that the implementation of the schemes is closely monitored.
In order to ensure that the funds allocated for Adi Dravidars and tribal people in Tamil Nadu reach them in full, the ‘Tamil Nadu Development Action Plan Act’ was implemented on May 29, 2024. Under this Act, a state council headed by the Chief Minister has been formed to monitor whether the funds allocated to the SC and ST departments are being properly spent. The first meeting of this council for the 2026-27 financial year was held at the Chennai Secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Vijay.
Vijay said at the meeting: The funds allocated under the SC, ST Development Scheme should be fully utilized for the benefit of ordinary people.
Officials should continuously monitor its implementation. In particular, the monthly expenditure details, progress report, and beneficiary details of the departments implementing these schemes should be uploaded on the www adtwdap.tn.gov.in website.
Furthermore, obstacles hindering the progress of the Adi Dravidars and tribal people should be identified, and recommendations should be made to remove them. New schemes for that purpose should be formulated by all departmental secretaries. He spoke thus.
