The Chennai Meteorological Department has said that there is a possibility of rain in 21 districts, including Chennai, over the next 3 hours.
A weak low-pressure trough is prevailing in the lower atmosphere over the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu.
As a result, today (Aug. 10), moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning and strong winds (at speeds of 40 to 50 km per hour) may occur at one or two places in the Western Ghats districts, Chengalpattu, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore, Sivaganga, and Pudukkottai districts, as well as in Puducherry.
It has been reported that light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning and strong winds at a speed of 40 to 50 km per hour, may occur at one or two places in other parts of Tamil Nadu and Karaikal.

In this situation, for the next 3 hours (until 10 p.m.), moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning may occur in Chengalpattu, Chennai, Kanchipuram, Madurai, Ranipet, Sivaganga, Tiruvallur, Tiruvannamalai, and Virudhunagar districts.
Furthermore, the Chennai Meteorological Department has stated in a report that light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning may occur in the districts of Coimbatore, Dharmapuri, Dindigul, Erode, Krishnagiri, Namakkal, Perambalur, Ramanathapuram, Salem, Nilgiris, Tiruppur, and Vellore.
