The Chennai Meteorological Department has stated that there is a chance of rain in 21 districts of Tamil Nadu until 7 p.m. tonight.
Due to a weak low-pressure trough prevailing in the lower atmosphere over the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, a rain warning had already been issued today for districts including Chengalpattu, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, and Pudukkottai.
In this situation, the Chennai Meteorological Department has announced the areas where rain is likely over the next three hours (until 7 p.m. on Aug. 10).
Accordingly, it has been reported that moderate rain is likely in Chennai, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Perambalur, and Ariyalur districts.
Furthermore, light to moderate rain is forecast in the districts of Kanchipuram, Vellore, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai, Dindigul, Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Tiruppur, Erode, Theni, Tenkasi, Thanjavur, Tiruchirappalli, Ranipet, Tiruvannamalai, Thoothukudi, as well as in Puducherry.
The Chennai Meteorological Department has also warned that waterlogging on roads may lead to traffic congestion in some places.
