Promotion has been granted to 116 assistant executive engineers working in municipalities in Tamil Nadu.
Those serving as assistant executive engineers in municipalities (A2), after completing 5 years of service, have been promoted. As per the status for the year 2024-25, it has also been found that 102 executive engineer posts are vacant in municipalities across the state. Accordingly, in order to fill those vacancies, the Municipal Administration Department has issued orders promoting 16 assistant executive engineers who were working in the Madurai and Tiruchi municipalities, and 100 people working in the Chennai Municipal Corporation, making a total of 116 people, as executive engineers.
Transfer of 55 out of 100 people promoted in Chennai: Since only 45 posts are vacant out of the total executive engineer positions in the Chennai Corporation, 55 of those who were recently promoted have been transferred to districts outside Chennai. It is said that they have been transferred to municipalities, town panchayats, and corporations in places including Vellore, Tiruppur, Mayiladuthurai, Tiruchengode, Dharmapuri, and Thiruverkadu.
