A joint defense agreement has been signed between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey.
Amid the ongoing intense war among the Gulf countries, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and the country’s Army Chief Asim Munir suddenly made an official visit to Saudi Arabia yesterday (Aug. 7).
During this visit, it was said that Pakistani leaders would hold important talks with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman. An existing military agreement between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan is already in force.
As Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen continue attacking Saudi ships in the Red Sea region, the visit by Pakistani leaders drew international attention.
In this context, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived today in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, on an official visit. It has been reported that he met with the leaders of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and held trilateral talks.
In addition, a joint security agreement has been signed between three major Asian countries at a security conference held in Jeddah.
Already, in retaliation for America’s attack, the Iranian military has been carrying out attacks targeting key infrastructure in Gulf countries. It is noteworthy that, in this war, attacks were also carried out on cities in Turkey and Saudi Arabia.
