On Aug. 12, a total solar eclipse that turns day into night! Can it be seen in India?

This year’s second solar eclipse is set to occur on Aug. 12.

A solar eclipse occurs when the moon comes into alignment between the Earth and the sun in a straight line. This happens 2 to 5 times a year. During it, the moon completely covers the sun, and only the moon’s shadow falls on the Earth. This is the first total solar eclipse visible in the world since 2024.

During this event, darkness will completely set in, making it look like night. It will move from west to east, ending over the Arctic Ocean, Greenland, Iceland, Portugal, and up to northern Spain. In some countries in America, Europe, and Africa, it will be visible as a partial eclipse.

However, since this event in India will occur from 9:04 p.m. on Aug. 12 until 1:30 a.m. the next day (Aug. 13) (for about four and a half hours), it cannot be seen here.
