President Donald Trump signed two new executive orders to restrict birthright citizenship in the United States and to prevent women from traveling to the U.S. while pregnant with the intention of obtaining citizenship.
These new orders have now been issued with some modifications, after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down Trump’s earlier order on this issue at the end of last June.
Accordingly, citizenship documents will be denied to those who have children in the United States through commercial arrangements, as well as to the children of members of terrorist organizations and the children of foreign government employees.
Regarding this, President Donald Trump further said, “The 14th Constitutional Amendment, which grants citizenship to those born in the United States, was introduced after the Civil War for the children of slaves; however, some are now using it for commercial purposes. Since the Supreme Court’s decision was unfortunate, these new changes have been made,” he said.
