The opposition leader Udhayanidhi, who was taken to Sengipatti in Tiruchi for questioning, completed the inquiry and came out to meet the press.

Since that issue is going to become a topic of discussion in the Assembly tomorrow, the police came to arrest me by twisting and spreading it as if I had said what I did not say.

I gave full cooperation. They tried to silence me. I was arrested after saying that we are not afraid of all this. In court, they said they did not arrest me and only took me in for questioning. Instead of taking me to Thanjavur, they took me to the Sengipatti police station and kept harassing me. I did not speak with any wrong intention. I would never think of speaking about women with bad intent. My parents did not raise me that way. I have a family of my own. I see every woman in Tamil Nadu as a mother and a sister. Many of my siblings have protested and been arrested condemning my arrest.

Thank you for their support. They should be released soon. Some leaders have misunderstood what I said and issued condemnations. That is what is upsetting. I did not speak with any double meaning. I spoke only in one sense: that Cauvery water is needed. I am not afraid of arrests by this lowly government. I will speak even 100 more times. I will keep speaking again and again,' he said.
