Chennai: Some users have complained that Meta has placed WhatsApp accounts under “review.” Confirming this, users have also verified it on the “Down Detector” website, which helps track data on website and social media service outages.
WhatsApp users have been facing this issue since 8 p.m. yesterday, Indian time. Their WhatsApp accounts have been blocked without any prior warning, with a message stating that the account is under review for 24 hours. Reports say that Indian users’ WhatsApp accounts are also among those affected.
As a result, it has been reported that users are unable to use all the features of the WhatsApp messenger. Users have also shared this on social media.
“We are continuously working to disable such WhatsApp accounts in order to ensure the safety of other users, for those who try to misuse our platform’s services. Sometimes mistakes can happen in this process. If that happens, we are trying to quickly restore those users’ accounts and bring them back into use,” a Meta spokesperson said.
Meta’s WhatsApp Messenger is used by more than 300 crore users worldwide. This platform is used for text messages, photos, videos, audio, and making calls. From schools to offices, people now use it to exchange information in groups, one-to-one, and one-to-many. In this situation, Meta has placed the WhatsApp accounts of some users under review.
