Speaking in today’s Legislative Assembly session, Soumya Anbumani said, "Congratulations to the government for announcing that it will enact the Right to Service Act. The PMK has been raising its voice for 13 years to fulfill this demand. You have allocated only Rs. 16,000 crore to the agriculture sector, which is very low. Many of the things expected in the agriculture budget are missing.
You have allocated Rs. 56,985 crore for capital expenditure. But more funds should have been allocated for important irrigation projects. All the rainwater that falls in Tamil Nadu is wasted and flows into the sea. A check dam should be built every 10 kilometers... Only then can water be conserved.
Dharmapuri needs 2 TMC of water, and Salem needs 5 TMC of water. There are 35 major rivers in Tamil Nadu. If check dams are built on them, the water that flows into the sea can be prevented. Through this, 100 TMC of water can be saved.
Tamil Nadu once had 42,000 lakes. At present, there are only 27,000 lakes. Only if these are desilted can 150 TMC of water be stored.
Farmers allege that the subsidies allocated for them are not reaching them properly, and they place the blame on government officials.
We expected the budget to create more job opportunities. But that has not happened. Hundreds of thousands of young people are graduating and coming out, and what they expect is a government job.
For 3,000 government posts, 30,000 people write the exam. They have been taking exams for 10 years. Even so, they have not gotten jobs. Even after passing the exam, they still cannot get employment; a government job remains nothing but a mirage.
According to Government Order 152, there are no jobs in the remaining 20 municipal corporations except the Chennai Corporation. A government order has been issued stating that all jobs will be handed over to contractors.
In 479 town panchayats, jobs are being filled only through outsourcing. 35,000 government jobs have become vacant. Nearly 52,000 jobs have been lost because of this government order. Contract workers face numerous problems. Their labor is being exploited. There is no room for social justice. The contract system in employment must be abolished. Only then will reservation be protected, and human rights safeguarded.
They came to power saying that Tamil Nadu should take the policy decision to create job opportunities in private companies. It was precisely to bring about such a change that Mr. Anbumani introduced various schemes when he was the Union Health Minister.
There are expectations such as a social justice census, cooperative loan waivers, free electricity, and ensuring women’s happiness by gradually closing TASMAC liquor shops.
