The incident in which David D’Souza, a Congress functionary and contractor in Karnataka, was shot dead by unidentified persons has caused a stir.
Police said that David D’Souza, a local Congress functionary and contractor in Udupi district of Karnataka, was shot dead by unidentified persons on Friday. The incident took place in a place called Padubidri in Udupi.
Police further said that he had also served as the former president of the Mudrangadi village panchayat and was the owner of a liquor bar and a public transport company. Reports also say that he had served a prison sentence in a suicide case.
According to the police, two unidentified men who arrived in a vehicle opened fire at D’Souza. He sustained severe injuries in the attack. Neighbors and local officials immediately took him to a nearby hospital.
However, he died on the way. Police said a thorough investigation is under way to determine the motive behind this political killing from two angles: a personal dispute and professional rivalry. The incident has caused a major stir in Udupi district.
