Chennai: 'The daytime plunder of the DMK era under the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme should not continue even under the TVK government,' said Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagendran
In an X post he released on this, he said, ‘It is shocking that in Thirumangalam in Madurai district, under the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme, without even laying a single brick, a fraud of Rs. 21 lakh has been committed by showing neighboring houses.
The culture of corruption that prevailed during the previous DMK regime, along with the lethargic attitude of officials, has been the reason such irregularities were carried out so brazenly. Exploiting the funds provided by the Central government for the poor is strongly condemnable.
Now that these corruption irregularities from the DMK era have come to light, the ruling TVK government must not remain mired only in a craze for 'reels' and empty publicity politics; it should instead give adequate attention to governance and prevent the same mistakes from recurring.
In addition to ensuring that Central Government schemes reach eligible poor beneficiaries directly, strict action must be taken against officials involved in the irregularities. Furthermore, I urge that the TVK government act with great vigilance in the future to prevent ineligible people from receiving funds,” he said.
