In Pakistan, it has been reported that more than 1,900 cases of child abuse were recorded in just the first six months of 2026.
Experts say that crimes against children and women have been increasing in Pakistan of late.
In this context, the child protection NGO Sahil has said that 1,914 criminal cases against children were recorded in the country from January to June 2026 alone, causing shock.
In this regard, this information has been compiled based on reports published in newspapers from Pakistan’s provinces of Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh, Islamabad, Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, and Pakistan-occupied Gilgit-Baltistan.
In this situation, in Pakistan during just the first 6 months of 2026, 49 cases of newborn babies being abandoned on the streets, 1,015 cases of child sexual abuse, 558 kidnapping cases, 101 cases of missing children, 98 cases related to pornography following sexual abuse, and 35 child marriage cases have been recorded.
Following this, it was found that 58 percent of the victims of these crimes were girls. Among those affected by these crimes were 598 children aged 11-15, 356 children aged 16-18, 329 children aged 6-10, and 95 children aged 0-5.
In addition, this study found that 43 percent of those involved in these crimes were very close to the affected children, and only 34 percent of the offenders were strangers.
