Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has issued a government order to provide compensation of up to Rs. 2 lakh through the welfare board to journalists who die in accidents.
In this regard, the government order issued by Information Department Secretary V. Rajaraman states: In the 8th and 9th meetings of the Journalists Welfare Board committee, the issue of accident death compensation for journalists was discussed.
Based on this, a resolution was passed at that meeting to provide Rs. 2 lakh as compensation from the journalists’ welfare board fund to journalists who die in accidents, and to give this amount from the welfare board fund itself rather than from the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund. The government, after carefully considering this resolution, has now accepted it and officially issued a government order. This is what it states.
