It has been reported that Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir are set to travel to Saudi Arabia.
Led by Pakistan Prime Minister Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Army Chief Asim Munir, and others will visit Saudi Arabia on an official trip from Aug. 6 to Aug. 8.
With war ongoing in the Gulf region, important plans are expected to be drawn up during this visit, where Saudi and Pakistani leaders who have signed a military agreement will meet.
Following this, it is said that Pakistani leaders who will meet Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman during this trip are also planning to hold talks on the future relations between the two countries.
Already, because it acted in support of the United States in the war against Iran, Yemen’s Houthis, who control the Bab al-Mandab Strait, the gateway to the Red Sea, have banned Saudi Arabian ships from passing through that route.
In addition, the Houthis have attacked Saudi Arabian ships that attempted to pass through Bab al-Mandab in violation of the blockade. As a result, Saudi Arabia has announced that it will form a multinational maritime security coalition to ensure the safety of cargo and oil tankers traveling through Bab al-Mandab and the Red Sea.
It is noteworthy that 14 countries, including Pakistan, have supported Saudi Arabia’s maritime security initiative.
