New Delhi: Compared with the price of gold at the beginning of this year, it could fall by as much as 37%, the World Gold Council has said.
In a report released by the World Gold Council on this matter, it said, “If the price of gold falls below 3,857 US dollars per ounce, it could face further declines. The next key support level will be 3,500 dollars. Compared with the January peak, this would represent a decline of about 37%. Previous declines in gold have also been like this.
At the same time, if the Japanese yen strengthens, it will limit the decline in gold prices. At the time this report was released, gold was trading at around $4,063.80 per ounce. The London Bullion Market Association’s afternoon gold price had fallen by one percent to $4,027 per ounce. The total decline since the beginning of this year has widened to 7.8 percent.
Changes in interest rate expectations affected gold prices, even as the U.S. Federal Reserve kept interest rates unchanged. In addition, developments in the U.S.-Iran conflict heightened concerns about crude oil prices and inflation.
As investors reassessed market conditions, inflows into gold ETFs declined. If the price of gold falls below 3,943 US dollars per ounce, this price range will weaken further. As a result, the next major technical support is expected to be 3,857 - 3,887 US dollars per ounce,’ it was stated.
