16 Bangladeshi migrant workers died in a fire accident at a sofa manufacturing factory in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
The fire broke out last Sunday at the Musa Sanaiya industrial area in Riyadh. Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is monitoring the situation regarding the incident.
Officials at the Bangladeshi embassy in Riyadh are working with Saudi authorities to carry out all procedures for repatriating the bodies of those who died to their homeland.
About 3.5 million Bangladeshis live in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia is the country where a large number of Bangladeshi migrant workers are employed. Last year alone, workers there sent more than 27 billion dollars to Bangladesh.
