Chennai: “Chief Minister Vijay should take action to immediately provide the Rs. 2,500 monthly women’s entitlement amount, as promised by the TVK government,” Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagendran has urged.
In a post he published on his X page regarding this, he said, “The DMK government’s further attempt to block the women’s entitlement amount is strongly condemnable. In response to the question of when you will provide the ‘Rs. 2,500 monthly women’s entitlement amount’ as promised by the DMK during the election, Revenue Minister Sengottaiyan’s remarks are completely irresponsible. He responded dismissively, saying things like, ‘Do you know Tamil Nadu’s financial situation? Can two children be married at the same time? In the previous regime, didn’t they give it only after 2 years? Why are you asking us alone now?’”
It was precisely because they could no longer tolerate the previous government’s atrocities that people placed TVK, which had pleaded, “We will bring change,” on the throne. But after coming to power, a TVK minister speaking in the tone of, “The previous government gave the women’s rights allowance late anyway, so why should we give it early?” once again loudly reinforces the truth that “DMK and TVK are no different.” It is tantamount to insulting the women who trusted them and voted for them.
Moreover, saying as if they had discovered something new that Tamil Nadu is in debt, and trying to shelve the promises they made without fulfilling them, is the height of deceit.
Did the TVK not know what Tamil Nadu’s financial situation was when preparing the election manifesto? Did Chief Minister Vijay beg the people, saying, “Give me just one chance,” without even reading the annual budget report released every year? Who is the TVK government trying to fool?
Therefore, excuses like these will no longer work here. As promised, Chief Minister Vijay must take action to immediately provide the Rs. 2,500 monthly women’s entitlement allowance,” he said.
