DMK members staged a road blockade in Vannarapettai, Nellai, under the leadership of an MLA, condemning the arrest of Tamil Nadu opposition leader Udhayanidhi Stalin. During the protest, they attacked a two-wheeler rider who came to the spot.
More than a hundred DMK members, led by MLA Abdul Wahab, staged a road blockade protest in Nellai Vannarapettai, marching to the statue of Chellappandian, on behalf of the Nellai Central District DMK, condemning the arrest of Udhayanidhi Stalin, the Tamil Nadu opposition leader and DMK youth wing secretary, who was arrested after a case was registered at the Thanjavur police station on charges of speaking insultingly about the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and women.
Because volunteers staged a road blockade on the Tirunelveli–Vannarpettai, Tirunelveli–Palayamkottai, and Tirunelveli–Madurai roads, the entire Nellai city area was thrown into severe traffic congestion.
DMK volunteers lay down on the road and staged a protest while raising slogans condemning the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.
At that time, DMK members repeatedly attacked a motorcyclist who was riding along the side of the road and knocked his vehicle down, causing a commotion.
The attack incident took place in the presence of Nellai City Police Deputy Commissioner Saravanan. Additional police were immediately called in, and the vehicle driver was rescued from the spot and sent away.
Police led by Deputy Commissioner Saravanan then held talks with those who had been staging a road blockade for more than twenty minutes, removed them from the spot, arrested them, and took them to a marriage hall.
The two-wheeler rider who was attacked said that he was assaulted for telling them not to stage a road blockade and cause inconvenience to the public.

The sight of DMK members repeatedly assaulting a two-wheeler rider, who told them not to block the road and cause inconvenience to the public, is shocking!
DMK members, who have been speaking disrespectfully about women one after another, are now resorting to violence. In speech… pic.twitter.com/xArFYrpZMk
