Chennai: Mayor Priya has filed a complaint with the Chennai Police Commissioner, stating that an unidentified person has been continuously harassing her.
Chennai Corporation Mayor R. Priya submitted an online complaint to the Chennai Police Commissioner. In it, she said that defamatory information and false posts about her are being spread on social media platforms including WhatsApp and Facebook.
Through this, an attempt is being made to tarnish her reputation. Furthermore, unidentified persons have been repeatedly contacting the official telephone number of the Chennai Corporation office and causing harassment.
As a result, office work is also being affected. Therefore, the complaint states that the concerned individuals should be identified and appropriate legal action should be taken against them. Based on Mayor Priya’s complaint, the Chennai Police have begun the initial investigation.
Police are engaged in collecting technical evidence, including the posts published on social media, the mobile phone numbers used, social media accounts, and their IP addresses.
If necessary, this case may be transferred to the Cyber Crime Division for investigation, and information may be obtained from social media companies, it is said.
