Following this, the Iranian court has stated that the death sentence was carried out for both of them this morning.

There was no mention of either their arrest or their being subjected to an investigation. However, the death sentence was carried out citing that they had cooperated with Israel and provided confidential information.

According to data from human rights organizations including Amnesty International, Iran is the country that carries out the second-highest number of executions in the world, after China.

In Iran alone, 1,639 people were sentenced to death last year. This is the highest number recorded since 1989.

Notably, a few days ago, the death sentence was carried out in public against two people who had set officials on fire during anti-government protests last year.
