Tejas Ashok Shirse has qualified for the final in the 110m hurdles at the Commonwealth Games.

The 23rd Commonwealth Games are being held in Glasgow, Scotland. Competitions are taking place today, the fifth day of the Games.

In the qualifying round for the 110m hurdles event, Indian athlete Tejas Ashok Shirse finished in third place. With this, he has directly qualified for the final.

24-year-old Shirse, though he started off somewhat slowly, recovered later and completed the race distance in 13.76 seconds. He finished behind Jamaica’s Jerome Campbell, who took first place (13.33 seconds), and England’s Samuel Bennett, who finished second (13.20 seconds).

According to the qualification rules, the top 3 finishers in the two heats, along with the 2 fastest athletes overall, will advance directly to the final round. Therefore, by securing third place, Shirse has advanced to the final.

The final is scheduled to take place at 2:15 a.m. on 28 July, Indian time.

He is expected to break his personal record of covering the race distance in 13.27 seconds and win gold at the Commonwealth Games.
