In the 4th match of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) cricket tournament, ‘Vidaa’ Kovai Kings defeated SKM Salem Spartans by 34 runs on Thursday.
Batting first, Kovai scored 194 for 8 in 20 overs, while Salem were all out for 160 in 19.4 overs.
Earlier, Salem won the toss and chose to field. In the Kovai innings, P. Sachin smashed 77 runs with 7 boundaries and 4 sixes, Abhinav Kannan scored 32 with 3 boundaries, and Suresh Lokeshwar made 23 runs with 2 boundaries and 1 six before getting out.
Captain M. Shahrukh Khan was out for 27 with 1 boundary and 2 sixes, Andre Siddharth for 17 with 2 boundaries, Ambrish for 0, Maan Bafna for 7, and Deepan Lingesh for 6 runs. At the end of the overs, Divakar remained unbeaten on 1 run.
Among Salem’s bowlers, Udayakumar and Poyyamozhi took 3 wickets each, while Ajith Ram claimed 2 wickets.
Later, in the Salem team’s chase of a target of 195 runs, Nitish Rajagopal fought hard, scoring 69 runs with 6 boundaries and 2 sixes before falling.
M. Mohamed was dismissed for 30 with 2 boundaries and 2 sixes, Harishkumar for 25 with 3 boundaries and 1 six, while Kavin was out for 0, Hari Nishanth for 4, captain S. Abhishek for 0, and Sunny Sandhu for 0.
Karthik Manikandan returned to the pavilion for 11 with 2 boundaries, Ajith Ram for 7, and Ayyappan for 7, bringing Salem’s innings to an end. Among Coimbatore’s bowlers, Deepan Lingesh and Kishore took 3 wickets each, while Manimaran Siddharth took 2 wickets.
