China: 10 people killed in floods!

Following the landfall of the storm named ‘Noul’ in China, 10 people died due to flooding caused by heavy rain.

The Noul storm, which formed in the Pacific Ocean, moved toward the South China Sea and made landfall in Huizhou city in Guangdong province, China, at around 3:50 a.m. on Sunday. At that time, strong winds blew at a speed of 162 km/h, and heavy rain fell in many places. Ten people died in the Gansu region after being caught in the resulting flash floods.

As a precautionary measure, more than 800,000 people in Guangdong were evacuated to safe locations. Following the storm’s landfall, high-speed rail and flight services there were canceled.

Following this, China’s National Development and Reform Commission has allocated 100 million yuan (about Rs. 141 crore) to carry out rescue and reconstruction efforts in Guangdong. This funding will mainly be used to repair damaged infrastructure such as roads, schools, and hospitals. Typhoon Neoguri is the 12th storm to hit China this year.
