Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has today (July 27) ordered an inquiry into whether illegal firecracker factories are operating in Sivakasi.
He has instructed the district collector to investigate illegal firecracker factories and take appropriate action.
In Virudhunagar district, Sivakasi taluk, Sengamalapatti area, five people died yesterday (July 26) morning in an unexpected explosion at a firecracker factory operating on privately owned land without proper permission.
Rampirakash (age 32), son of Ravindran, Ramachandran (age 40), son of Ravindran, Innasimuthu (age 44), son of Singaraj, from that area, and Mr. Pandithurai (age 35), son of Mariappan, from Naranapuram, died.
Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and their relatives, and announced a relief amount of Rs. 4 lakh each for their families.
In addition, the Chief Minister has instructed the District Collector to investigate whether firecracker factories are being operated illegally without proper permission and to take appropriate action.
