In the budget speech, Minister Mariyalson said that arrangements will be made to provide quality housing for everyone in Tamil Nadu.
In Tamil Nadu, Finance Minister Mariyalson is presenting and addressing the Assembly on the first budget for the 2026-27 financial year of the TVK government led by Chief Minister Vijay.
He said that Rs 8,852 crore has been allocated to the Housing and Urban Development Department.
Quality housing for everyone
24,131 apartment units will be completed this year. Construction will begin on 14,194 new apartment units.
Quality housing with basic amenities will be provided to all people.
'My Home' scheme
The metropolitan youth and family housing scheme, 'MY-HOME', has been introduced in the Chennai metropolitan area. An investment of Rs. 15,000 crore will be made for this. Accordingly, 1 lakh houses will be built over the next 7 years.
The Minister said it will serve as safe, quality housing for low-income families and youth.

Housing unit amount increased from Rs. 3.10 lakh to Rs. 5 lakh
Approval for 70,000 houses in the first year itself
The scheme will be implemented at an estimated cost of Rs. 3,500 crore.
