The Kalaignar Dream Scheme has now been changed into the Vetri Veedu Scheme, said Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi leader Thirumavalavan today (Aug. 5).
Tamil Nadu Budget 2026 Thirumavalavan said to reporters in Ariyalur:
''Only after reading the budget in full can I comment on it. However, a few announcements are commendable.
The government’s move to provide school students with helmets, water bottles, and comfortable bicycles is praiseworthy.
The scheme that had been operating under the name “Kalaignar Dream Scheme” has been announced under the name Victory Home Scheme. It is heartening that the subsidy for this has been increased to Rs. 5 lakh.
We appreciate the TVK government for increasing the value of house construction.
We are very pleased that additional funds have been allocated to the Social Justice Department. On behalf of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, I extend my appreciation and congratulations.
Funding allocations have been increased for the Annal Ambedkar Industrial Pioneer Scheme and the Pandit Ayothidasa House Construction Scheme.
An additional allocation has been made for the scholarship scheme for students going abroad for studies.
"This government has also provided the opportunity for the Social Justice Department to function independently and to fully utilize its funds. That has been reflected in the budget as well," Thirumavalavan said.
