15 people took oath as new judges of the Chennai High Court on Sunday.

Justice K. Govindarajan
He was born on March 8, 1972. He completed his law degree in 1994 and enrolled as an advocate. Since 1999, he worked at the Kulithalai court and later at the High Court. He served as the Deputy Solicitor General for the Central Government at the Madurai Bench of the High Court.
Justice Rajneesh Pathial
Born on February 28, 1973. He completed his law degree at Dr. Ambedkar Law College in Chennai and enrolled as an advocate in 1996. He completed his postgraduate law studies in California, USA.
Justice N. Ramesh
Born in Vellore in 1973. He completed his law degree at Dr. Ambedkar Law College in Chennai. After serving as a civil judge for five years, he resigned from that post and became an advocate again in 2009. He had been working as a special public prosecutor for the Enforcement Directorate.
Justice G.K. Muthukumar
Born in 1974 in Gobichettipalayam, Erode district. Completed his law degree at Bangalore University and enrolled as an advocate. Served as Special Pleader for the Tamil Nadu government during 2020-2021.
Justice R. Rajesh Venkatesan
Born in 1975 in Thoothukudi district. Completed his law degree at Madurai Law College and enrolled as an advocate in 1998. Had been serving as the Additional Solicitor General for the Central Government.
Justice S. Raveekumar
Born on Dec. 23, 1977. He had been practicing as an advocate in the Madras High Court. He appeared and argued in civil and criminal cases. He had been serving as the Government Pleader for the Union Territory of Puducherry.
Justice N. Dileep Kumar
Born on March 22, 1980. He completed his law degree at Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, Chennai, and enrolled as an advocate in 2002. He had been practicing as an advocate in the Madras High Court and the Madurai Bench of the High Court.
Justice E. Manoharan
Born on October 27, 1978. He completed his law degree at Chennai Dr. Ambedkar Law College and his postgraduate law degree in Singapore, and enrolled as an advocate in 2003. He served as Additional Government Pleader for the Tamil Nadu government during 2016-2019.
Justice P. Murugan
Born on May 20, 1974. He completed his law degree at Salem Central Law College and enrolled as an advocate. Selected as a district judge in 2011, he served as a district judge in various courts.
Justice S. Karthikeyan
He completed his law degree at Salem Central Law College and enrolled as an advocate in 2001. He passed the District Judge examination in 2014 and served as a judge in various districts, including Dindigul and Thanjavur. From April 2021 to December 2022, he served as the Secretary of the Law Department of the Puducherry government. Since 2024, he has been serving as the Principal District Judge of Chennai.
Judge N. Gunasekaran
Born in Coimbatore on Feb. 1, 1976. She completed her law degree at Coimbatore Law College and enrolled as an advocate in 2002. She passed the district judges examination held in 2014 and served as a district judge in various districts, including as a judge at the Tirunelveli Women’s Court.
Judge S. Alli
He was born on June 11, 1966. He completed his law degree at Trichy Law College and enrolled as an advocate. After passing the magistrate examination, he took charge as a magistrate in Kumbakonam. Rising through the ranks step by step, he served as a judge of the Principal District Sessions Court in Chennai and later as the Registrar General of the Madras High Court.
Justice P. Murugesan
He is currently serving as the Principal Judge at the CBI Special Court in Chennai and was born on April 3, 1970. He completed his law degree at Madurai Law College and enrolled as an advocate. He passed the judicial examination held in 2014 and has served as District Principal Judge in various districts.
Judge M.D. Sumathi
She hails from Tiruchy district. She completed her law degree at Tiruchy Law College and enrolled as an advocate. She has served as a judge in various districts, including the Chennai City Civil Court, Family Court, Theni Women’s Court, Ramanathapuram, and Ariyalur.
Judge Thirumagal Chandrasekar
She is from Vellore district. She completed her law degree and enrolled as an advocate. She has served as a criminal court judge in Madurai, as a district munsif in Ambattur, as a metropolitan magistrate in Chennai, in the Master Court of the Madras High Court, as a judge of the Chennai City Civil Court, and as a judge of the Cuddalore Women’s Court.
