Bangladesh has emerged as another Pakistan for India, said Sajeeb Wazed, the son of former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
In Bangladesh, the government of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was toppled as a result of the nationwide student protests held in 2024. Following this, the Bangladeshi government has declared Sheikh Hasina, who took refuge in India, a wanted criminal.
Against this backdrop, Sajeeb Wazed, Sheikh Hasina’s son, took part in an online event in which she participated via video.
At that time, he accused Bangladesh of emerging as another Pakistan for India. Along with this, he also raised questions about the number of people who died in the student protests held in Bangladesh.
Regarding this, he said:
“There are various figures regarding the number of people who died in the protest held in July 2024. According to the United Nations, 1,400 people died. But the government side said the death toll was slightly above 800. Who are those additional 600 people being mentioned? Where did the United Nations get those names from?
Our party (the Awami League) has written to the UN. Our lawyers have written to the UN several times. However, to this day, they have not released any names.
What should be of greatest concern to India is that Bangladesh has emerged as another Pakistan on India’s eastern border. Today, there is another Pakistan on your (India’s) eastern border.
“Foreign intelligence agencies are operating openly in Bangladesh,” he said.
The former Bangladeshi prime minister’s son speaking about the security of India’s eastern region has caused a major stir.
India, which entered the battlefield in the 1971 war for Bangladesh’s independence, helped defeat Pakistan and secure Bangladesh’s freedom.
