The Chennai High Court has ordered the Tamil Nadu DGP to provide armed police protection to retired IAS officer Sagayam.

In the petition filed by voluntary retirement IAS officer Sagayam, he said, “While serving as the District Collector of Madurai district, the High Court appointed him as the commissioner to investigate the granite irregularities.

He also stated that, based on the High Court’s order, after conducting the investigation, he submitted a report to the High Court saying that the government had suffered a loss of Rs 1.11 lakh crore due to the illegal quarrying of granite stones.

Based on this report, the case is under trial in the Madurai Special Court. The petition also states that the police protection provided to me since 2014 on the orders of the High Court was withdrawn in 2023.

Because the protection was withdrawn, I, who have been included as a witness in the granite irregularities case, am unable to appear in court and give testimony, he said.

Since the threats continue, he had requested that the application submitted on October 7 last year seeking continued protection be considered and that orders be issued to provide protection again.

This case came up for hearing today before Judge G.K. Ilanthiraiyan. At that time, on behalf of Sagayam, it was stated that the security provided to him had been withdrawn without any prior notice. Therefore, it was requested that an order be issued to provide him security again.

On behalf of the Tamil Nadu government, it was stated that the petition filed by the petitioner seeking security was under consideration by the review committee.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the judge ordered the Tamil Nadu DGP to provide police protection to retired IAS officer Sagayam, who goes to give testimony in cases related to the granite scam, with at least one armed police officer accompanying him.

Furthermore, he disposed of the case by directing the review committee to examine the petitioner’s request petition and issue appropriate orders regarding the provision of police protection.

ஓய்வுபெற்ற ஐஏஎஸ் அதிகாரி சகாயத்துக்கு துப்பாக்கி ஏந்திய போலீஸ் பாதுகாப்பு வழங்க தமிழக டிஜிபிக்கு சென்னை உயர்நீதிமன்றம் உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளது.

விருப்ப ஓய்வு பெற்ற ஐஏஎஸ் அதிகாரி சகாயம் தாக்கல் செய்த மனுவில், ”மதுரை மாவட்ட ஆட்சியராக பணிபுரிந்தபோது, கிரானைட் முறைகேட்டை விசாரிக்க தன்னை ஆணையராக உயர்நீதிமன்றம் நியமித்தது.

பாதுகாப்பு விலக்கிக் கொள்ளப்பட்டதால், கிரானைட் முறைகேடு வழக்கில் சாட்சியாக சேர்க்கப்பட்டுள்ள தன்னால், நீதிமன்றத்தில் ஆஜராகி சாட்சியம் அளிக்க இயலவில்லை எனத் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

தமிழக அரசுத் தரப்பில், பாதுகாப்ப்பு வழங்க கோரி மனுதாரர் அளித்த மனு, மறு ஆய்வுக் குழு பரிசீலனையில் உள்ளதாக தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டது.

இருதரப்பு வாதங்களையும் கேட்ட நீதிபதி, கிரானைட் முறைகேடு தொடர்பான வழக்குகளில் சாட்சியம் அளிப்பதற்காக செல்லும் ஓய்வுபெற்ற ஐஏஎஸ் அதிகாரி சகாயத்துக்கு, குறைந்தது ஒரு துப்பாக்கி ஏந்திய காவலருடன் கூடிய போலீஸ் பாதுகாப்பு வழங்க தமிழக டிஜிபிக்கு உத்தரவிட்டார்.

மேலும், மனுதாரரின் கோரிக்கை மனுவை, பரிசீலித்து போலீஸ் பாதுகாப்பு வழங்குவது தொடர்பாக உரிய உத்தரவு பிறப்பிக்க மறு ஆய்வு குழுவிற்கு உத்தரவிட்டு வழக்கை முடித்துவைத்தார்.
