It has been nearly 5 months since the Iran war began.
Neither Iran nor the United States seems to have backed down so far. The two countries have been attacking each other back and forth.
The United States and Israel entered the battlefield with the plan that if Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei died, Iran’s leadership would change, and Iran would not be able to fight back for long.
But even after five months, Iran has continued to carry out retaliatory attacks. Iran is still in a mode where it is ready to attack.
Trump upset with Hegseth?
However, from the American side, voices are emerging saying, 'The weapons in America’s arsenal have dwindled.'
Recently, The Washington Post had published a report. It said that at the Camp David meeting, U.S. President Trump had grown angry with U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
In other words, Trump reportedly criticized Pete Hegseth for the stockpile of weapons normally maintained by the U.S. military being much lower than expected.
However, the White House has denied that this report is true.
In addition, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said, 'Trump has full confidence in Hegseth.'
Weapons running low... and running out!
But according to The Washington Post, "At the very start of the Iran war, the United States has used more than 850 Tomahawk cruise missiles, more than 1,000 Patriot and THAAD missiles, and more than 1,300 military tactical ballistic missiles.
The United States currently does not even have ATACMS-type tactical missiles in stock."
However much the White House denies the report in The Washington Post, it is not very convincing.
Trump backpedals
At the start of the Iran war, Trump had been saying things like, "We will destroy Iran. It will only take a day or two. We have destroyed Iran."
But Iran is still on the battlefield. It is still carrying out retaliatory attacks. It does not seem to be backing down.
However, Trump has so far canceled the large-scale attack he had announced only twice. Moreover, peace talks... peace... ceasefire... these words frequently appear in his statements and posts.
This itself shows that there is some hesitation on the U.S. side. In particular, political observers have also said that "because the U.S. is running low on weapons, Trump is looking to end the war quickly."
Trump still has not given up on the 'reciprocal tariff' he announced for 2025. No matter what obstacles the courts create for those tariffs, in one form or another, under one law or another, Trump keeps bringing in new tariffs again and again.
This shows that Trump will not give up anything so easily. However, Trump’s occasional backtracking on the Iran issue raises doubts about America’s weapons stockpile.
