Ariyalur: “It is welcome that additional funds have been allocated to the Social Justice Department in the Tamil Nadu budget,” said VCK leader Thirumavalavan.
Speaking to reporters today in Anganur, Ariyalur district, VCK leader and MP Thirumavalavan said: “Only after reading the full details of the budget can I offer a detailed opinion. However, some of the announcements released so far are highly commendable.
In particular, it is commendable that the government has come forward to provide school students with bicycles that have facilities to carry helmets and other equipment. It is also gratifying that the scheme that had been operating under the name “Kalaignar Dream Scheme” has been renamed the “Victory Home Scheme,” and that the amount allocated for it has now been increased to Rs. 5 lakh.
Since, during the previous regime, VCK had been continuously demanding that this estimate be increased, I welcome and appreciate this government for raising the house construction amount to Rs. 5 lakh.
Likewise, it is welcome that additional funds have been allocated to the Social Justice Department, and I express my appreciation for that. An allocation of Rs. 419 crore has been made for the Pandit Ayothidasa house construction scheme. Furthermore, it gives great joy that additional funds have also been allocated for the Annal Ambedkar Industrial Pioneers Scheme.
The number of beneficiaries receiving scholarships for students going abroad to pursue higher education has now been increased by one fold compared to previous years. This government has also provided the Social Justice Department the freedom to function independently and the opportunity to fully utilize its funds, and that has been reflected in the budget as well,’ he said.
