Chennai: There was a stir on Mylapore Radhakrishnan Salai after a sudden pit, about 4 feet deep and 20 feet long, formed. Because of this pit on the main road, motorists drove their vehicles with fear.
Every day, a large number of cars, two-wheelers, and city buses travel via Dr. Radhakrishnan Salai from the Mylapore area.
In this situation, early yesterday morning, a section of the road suddenly caved in, creating a pit 4 feet deep and 20 feet long. Since the pit was large, vehicles passing that way faced the risk of accidents.
Upon receiving information about this, the Mylapore traffic police rushed to the scene. Iron barriers were placed around the pothole to prevent vehicles from falling into it.
They also regulated traffic in that area. Following this, repair work on the pothole began immediately. Workers were engaged in filling the pothole with concrete mix and restoring the road.
Officials from the concerned department are investigating what caused this sudden pothole on the main road.
Investigations are being conducted from various angles, including whether the road caved in due to metro work, damage to the rainwater drainage pipe, or the nature of the soil.
Motorists have demanded that the road be fully repaired and that appropriate action be taken to prevent such potholes from forming again.
