Eight political parties in Nepal have joined together to form a new alliance called the “Progressive Alliance.”
At an event held in Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu, the Janata Samajwadi Party, Janamat Party, Aam Janata Party, Nagarik Unmukti Party Nepal, Pragatisheel Loktantrik Party, Nepal Sanghiya Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samajwadi Party Nepal, and the Kampuwan Rashtriya Morcha Party announced the new alliance on Saturday.
Later, a joint statement was issued on behalf of the Progressive Alliance. It said they had decided to work together on common issues and common programs.
Over the past few months, efforts have been underway to form a political alliance among parties from areas where Madhesi ethnic communities live in large numbers. It is said that, as a continuation of those efforts, eight parties have formed a new alliance.
