Murshidabad: In West Bengal, a 16-year-old boy says he feels a burning sensation in his body, and for the past month he has been spending most of his time, day and night, in ponds.
Iqbal, a 16-year-old boy living in the Beldanga area of Murshidabad district in West Bengal, has been spending most of his time in ponds, day and night, for the past month.
He says that as soon as he comes out of the water, his entire body feels like it is burning, and that he feels as if some supernatural force has taken control of him. Because of this, he reportedly refuses to come out of the pond and continues to stay in the water.
Iqbal, who is overweight, is seen floating in ponds from morning until late at night. Residents of the area said that at times he moves from one pond to another body of water.
Concerned about the boy’s condition, his parents said they had already taken him to the hospital, but there had been no improvement in his condition.
They also said they are unable to bear the cost of long-term treatment and have appealed for help in ensuring that the boy receives proper medical care.
Because he has been in the water for many days, the skin on Ikbal’s hands and legs appears pale. However, he continues to refuse to come out of the water.
Doctors from Kolkata said that staying in water for a long time could lead to various health problems, including skin and fungal infections.
Meanwhile, local residents have urged the district administration to intervene immediately and ensure that Ikbal receives proper medical treatment soon.
