DMK leader M.K. Stalin has instructed the party’s MLAs to raise more questions in the Assembly on issues concerning public welfare.
The first post-election session of the Legislative Assembly is set to begin on Thursday (June 18) with the Governor’s address. In this context, a meeting of DMK MLAs was held on Wednesday at the party headquarters, Anna Arivalayam in Chennai, under the leadership of party chief M.K. Stalin.
Opposition leader Udhayanidhi Stalin, whip E.V. Velu, senior functionaries, and MLAs took part. The discussion focused on how to effectively counter the ruling party’s strategies in the Assembly.
Information released about what DMK leader M.K. Stalin said at this meeting:
This government has been formed with the support of the DMK alliance parties. It must function effectively as a strong opposition in the Legislative Assembly. Due to public dissatisfaction with the ruling party, a situation has arisen in which people may take to the streets and protest. Therefore, in the Assembly, strong arguments must be put forward on issues affecting the public. New members should ask and learn from senior members.
They must attend 100 percent of the legislative assembly proceedings. They should go to the Assembly well prepared. They should ask more questions concerning public welfare. They should take the Leader of the Opposition and the whip along and submit petitions. They should continue meeting the people in their constituencies. Reports say that M.K. Stalin told the MLAs that people should say that DMK members will rush to help whether they are in power or not.
