A case has been filed in the Madras High Court challenging the victory of Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan in the Gobichettipalayam Assembly constituency.
Sengottaiyan, who left the AIADMK, joined the TVK, contested the Tamil Nadu Assembly election from the Gobichettipalayam constituency, and won.
AIADMK candidate Prabhu has filed a case in the Madras High Court against the victory of Sengottaiyan, who is serving as the Revenue Minister in the TVK cabinet led by Chief Minister Joseph Vijay.
In the petition he filed, it is stated that “the notary lawyer who certified Sengottaiyan’s nomination paper had an expired license, so accepting that nomination paper was a mistake.”
This case is expected to be listed for hearing soon by the Chennai High Court.
Sengottaiyan, who secured 82,612 votes in the Gobichettipalayam constituency, won by a margin of 16,620 votes. It is noteworthy that DMK candidate Nallasivam received 65,992 votes and AIADMK candidate Prabhu received 56,232 votes.

கோபி செட்டிபாளையம் சட்டப்பேரவைத் தொகுதியில் அமைச்சர் கே.ஏ. செங்கோட்டையனின் வெற்றியை எதிர்த்து சென்னை உயர் நீதிமன்றத்தில் வழக்கு தொடரப்பட்டுள்ளது.
அதிமுகவில் இருந்து விலகிய செங்கோட்டையன், தவெகவில் இணைந்து தமிழ்நாடு சட்டப்பேரவைத் தேர்தலில் கோபி செட்டிபாளையம் தொகுதியில் போட்டியிட்டு வெற்றி பெற்றார்.
முதல்வர் ஜோசப் விஜய் தலைமையிலான தவெக அமைச்சரவையில் வருவாய்த் துறை அமைச்சராக பதவி வகித்து வரும் செங்கோட்டையனின் வெற்றிக்கு எதிராக அதிமுக வேட்பாளர் பிரபு சென்னை உயர் நீதிமன்றத்தில் வழக்கு தொடர்ந்துள்ளார்.
அவர் தாக்கல் செய்த மனுவில், ”செங்கோட்டையனின் வேட்புமனுவில் சான்றளித்துள்ள நோட்டரி வழக்கறிஞரின் உரிமம் காலாவதியாகிவிட்டதால், அந்த வேட்புமனுவை ஏற்றதே தவறு” என்று குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.
இந்த வழக்கை விரைவில் சென்னை உயர் நீதிமன்றம் விசாரணைக்கு பட்டியலிடும் என்று எதிர்பார்க்கப்படுகிறது.
