India rejected the allegations made by Pakistan and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation regarding Jammu and Kashmir at the UN Human Rights Council. India also reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir "was, is, and will always remain an integral and inalienable part of India."
Speaking at the 62nd session of the UN Human Rights Council, Anupama Singh, First Secretary at India’s Permanent Mission to the UN, accused Pakistan of using UN forums to hide its domestic failures and divert attention from its continued support for terrorism.
We categorically reject all the baseless and malicious allegations that Pakistan levels regarding Jammu and Kashmir, an integral part of India. Pakistan’s empty rhetoric here is of no use. He accused Pakistan of trying to hide its domestic failures and its support for terrorism through such allegations.
He further said that its misuse of the position of coordinator of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation only further strengthens this deception.
Reaffirming India’s position on Jammu and Kashmir, Singh said, "Jammu and Kashmir was, is, and will always be an integral and inseparable part of India. The only unresolved issue is Pakistan’s illegal occupation of Indian territory and the return of those areas, and he said those areas must be handed back to India."
He further alleged that the protests and unrest in recent weeks reflect long-standing concerns over governance and human rights.
The tragic incidents continuing in Rawalakot, the massacre of hundreds of people, and the brutal repression taking place across Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir are the consequences of a system built on forcible occupation and sustained through oppression.
Singh said that decades of military land grabs, demographic changes, and the denial of basic freedoms have brought the situation to a point where even basic demands such as electricity, rights, and dignity are met with bullets and brutality.
