Kochi: A complaint has been raised that financial irregularities took place in the sacred ghee sold at the Sabarimala Sri Dharma Sastha (Ayyappan) temple in Kerala during the period between November 17, 2025 and December 27, 2025.
In particular, among the 16,628 packets of ghee sold to devotees at the temple, 43 employees of the Travancore Devaswom Board were accused of being involved in the financial irregularities. It was also said that the sale proceeds from the ghee packets were not remitted to the Travancore Devaswom Board, resulting in a loss of more than Rs. 17 lakh.
Following this, based on a complaint filed by the anti-corruption wing of the Travancore Devaswom Board, the Kerala High Court took suo motu cognizance and ordered an immediate criminal investigation. Meanwhile, the hearing in this case came up for hearing yesterday before a bench of Kerala High Court judges V. Raja Vijayaraghavan and K.V. Jayakumar.
The judges who heard the petition said: This will be registered as offenses under the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. It should examine whether any punishable offenses under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, have been proven against the accused persons, and submit that report to the court within 4 weeks.
We believe that the documents and information collected during the inquiry should be independently re-examined by the authorities. In such circumstances, this matter cannot be viewed merely as administrative negligence or a defective record. We order that a detailed inquiry be conducted and submitted as a report. இதையடுத்து திருவிதாங்கூர் தேவசம் போர்டின் ஊழல் தடுப்புத்துறை அளித்த புகாரின் அடிப்படையில், கேரள உயர் நீதிமன்றம் தானாக முன்வந்து உடனடி குற்றவியல் விசாரணைக்கு உத்தரவிட்டது. இந்நிலையில் இந்த வழக்கு தொடர்பான விசாரணை கேரள உயர் நீதிமன்ற நீதிபதிகள் வி.ராஜா விஜயராகவன், கே.வி. ஜெயக்குமார் ஆகியோர் அடங்கிய அமர்வு முன்பு நேற்று விசாரணைக்கு வந்தது.
மனுவை விசாரித்த நீதிபதிகள் கூறியதாவது: இது ஊழல் தடுப்பு சட்டம் மற்றும் பாரதிய நியாய சம்ஹிதா ஆகியவற்றின் கீழ் குற்றங்களாக பதிவு செய்யப்படும். குற்றம்சாட்டப்பட்ட நபர்களுக்கு எதிராக 1988-ம் ஆண்டு ஊழல் தடுப்புச் சட்டத்தின் கீழ், தண்டனைக்குரிய குற்றங்கள் ஏதேனும் நிரூபிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனவா என்பதை ஆராய்ந்து, அந்த அறிக்கையை 4 வார காலத்திற்குள் நீதிமன்றத்தில் சமர்ப்பிக்க வேண்டும்.
