Chennai: “For the first time in the Legislative Assembly, the national anthem was sung at both the beginning and the end of the Governor’s address. This historic event has fulfilled the Tamil people’s expectation that there should be a harmonious atmosphere between the state government and the people’s house, and it has served to uphold the dignity of democracy,” said Tamil Nadu Governor R.V. Arlekar.
In this regard, in a post shared on the Governor’s House X page, it was stated, ‘I am pleased to inform the people that today is the day a new dawn has emerged in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. It is deeply satisfying that, after three years, the Governor’s entire address was read in the Assembly today without any interruption.
Furthermore, for the first time in the Legislative Assembly, the historic event of the national anthem being sung at both the beginning and the end of the Governor’s address has fulfilled the expectations of the people of Tamil Nadu that there should be a harmonious atmosphere between the state government and Raj Bhavan, and it is no exaggeration to say that it has served to uphold the dignity of democracy.
It has been stated that “it is heartening that we have all begun to journey together toward the goal that a government ruled by democracy should aim to establish an integrated, harmonious relationship across all sides and function with the objective of fulfilling the people’s expectations and needs, thereby becoming a stable, exemplary government.”
The annual first session of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly traditionally begins with the Governor’s address. Accordingly, the Assembly session began last January under the leadership of then-Governor R.N. Ravi. Governor Ravi pointed out that the song “Vande Mataram” was not played and walked out without reading the speech prepared and submitted by the government in the Assembly. After that, a resolution was passed stating that only the speech prepared and submitted by the government should be included in the Assembly records, and then the then Speaker M. Appavu read out the Tamil version.
After that, since a general election to the Legislative Assembly was due, the then DMK government presented an interim budget. The Legislative Assembly general election was held, and TVK won 108 seats.
In this situation, the 17th session of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly began today at 10 a.m. under the chairmanship of Governor R.V. Arlekar. First, the Tamil Thai Vazhthu was sung. Then the national anthem was sung. The national anthem was played again after the Governor’s address ended.

தமிழக சட்டப்பேரவையின் ஆண்டு முதல் கூட்டம் ஆளுநர் உரையுடன் தொடங்குவது வழக்கம். அதன்படி கடந்த ஜனவரி மாதம் அப்போதைய ஆளுநர் ஆர்.என்.ரவி தலைமையில் சட்டப்பேரவைக் கூட்டம் தொடங்கியது. ஆளுநர் ரவி, வந்தே மாதரம் பாடல் இசைக்கப்படாததை சுட்டிக்காட்டி, அரசு தயாரித்து அளித்த உரையைப் பேரவையில் வாசிக்காமல் வெளியேறினார். அதன்பின், அரசு தயாரித்து அளித்த உரை மட்டுமே பேரவைக் குறிப்பில் இடம்பெற வேண்டும் என்பதற்கான தீர்மானம் நிறைவேற்றப்பட்டு அப்போதைய பேரவைத் தலைவர் மு.அப்பாவு தமிழ் உரையை வாசித்தார்.
அதற்குப் பிறகு சட்டப்பேரவைப் பொதுத்தேர்தல் நடைபெற வேண்டிய நிலையில், அப்போதைய திமுக அரசு இடைக்கால பட்ஜெட் தாக்கல் செய்தது. சட்டப்பேரவைப் பொதுத் தேர்தல் முடிந்து, தவெக 108 இடங்களில் வெற்றி பெற்றது.
இந்நிலையில், தமிழகத்தின் 17–வது சட்டப்பேரவைக் கூட்டம் ஆளுநர் ஆர்.வி.அர்லேகர் தலைமையில் இன்று காலை 10 மணிக்குத் தொடங்கியது. முதலில் தமிழ்த்தாய் வாழ்த்து பாடப்பட்டது. பின்னர் தேசிய கீதம் பாடப்பட்டது. ஆளுநர் உரை முடிந்தபின்னரும் தேசிய கீதம் மீண்டும் இசைக்கப்பட்டது.
இதைச் சுட்டிக்காட்டியே மாநில அரசுடன் இணக்கமான சூழல் உருவாகியுள்ளதாக ஆளுநர் அர்லேகர் நெகிழ்ச்சியுடன் ட்வீட் செய்துள்ளார்.
