In the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, the DMK party faced defeat, while the TMC emerged as the single largest party by winning the most seats. However, the TMC did not secure enough seats to form a majority government. Out of the total 234 constituencies, a party needs to win 118 seats to form a majority government. But the TMC won only 108 seats as a single party. Since the party did not get the required number of seats for a majority, the TMC sought support from the Congress. DMK MP Kanimozhi also left the DMK alliance and extended support to the TMC by offering 5 seats.
A request has been made to the Liberation Tigers and Communist parties for the remaining 6 seats. In this context, DMK MP Kanimozhi has written a letter to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha. In that letter, she kindly requests, "I humbly ask you to make appropriate changes in the seating arrangement of the Members of Parliament belonging to the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in the Lok Sabha. ஆனாலும் தனிப்பெரும்பான்மை ஆட்சி அமைப்பதற்கான எண்ணிக்கை த.வெ.கவிற்குக் கிடைக்கவில்லை. மொத்தமுள்ள 234 தொகுதிகளில் 118 தொகுதிகளை தனிக் கட்சியாக வென்றால் மட்டுமே தனிப்பெரும்பான்மை ஆட்சி அமைக்க முடியும்.

இந்நிலையில் திமுக எம்.பி கனிமொழி மக்களவை சபாநாயருக்கு கடிதம் ஒன்றை எழுதியிருக்கிறார். அந்தக் கடிதத்தில், ” மக்களவையில் திராவிட முன்னேற்றக் கழகத்தைச் (திமுக) சேர்ந்த நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர்களின் இருக்கை அமைப்பில் தகுந்த மாற்றங்களைச் செய்யுமாறு தங்களை அன்புடன் கேட்டுக்கொள்கிறேன்.
