Issuing a white paper on Tamil Nadu’s financial situation is not enough; the TVK government must take proactive steps to fulfill its election promises, Union Minister of State L. Murugan has emphasized.
In this regard, he said in a statement released on Wednesday:
The white paper on Tamil Nadu’s financial situation states that the total debt is Rs. 13.18 lakh crore and the revenue deficit is Rs. 78,326 crore. Through this white paper, is the TVK government indirectly saying that it cannot fulfill the promises made to the people during the election campaign?
TVK cannot escape by citing the misdeeds, corruption, and poor financial management that took place during the previous DMK regime. They should also release an action plan report explaining how they are going to fulfill the promises made to the people and what the Tamil Nadu government's financial management plan is.
It has been more than a month since taking charge of the government. Therefore, the TVK government should abandon the attempt to pass the days by blaming the previous government. Merely releasing a white paper on the financial situation is not enough; it must take constructive steps to implement its election promises, he said.
