In order to counter missile threats armed with nuclear weapons from enemy countries, the country’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully conducted three consecutive missile tests to demonstrate its multi-layered ballistic missile defence capability.
At the test range in Chandipur, Odisha, it successfully carried out two advanced interceptor missile tests on Saturday (June 13), classified as intermediate-range ballistic missile defence.
These intercept-and-destroy missiles were designed to detect enemy missiles at distances of 2,000 km to 5,000 km in areas both within and outside the atmosphere, and then disable them.
In this test, two missiles accurately struck their targets and operated successfully. The capability to intercept and destroy long-range and intercontinental missile threats in space and in the atmosphere was successfully tested.
Similarly, these missiles were tested for the first time from a naval base to demonstrate their ability to accurately strike and destroy targets at sea. These missiles are capable of flying very close to sea level and hitting enemy ships.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh today congratulated the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for successfully conducting three consecutive missile tests to demonstrate multi-layered defense against long-range ballistic missiles and anti-ship capability at medium range.
In this regard, in a post on his 'X' page, Rajnath Singh conveyed his congratulations to the DRDO scientists who achieved these remarkable accomplishments, and said that this has taken the nation’s security and self-reliant defense capability to a new height.
The minister said that these tests have placed India among the elite group of countries capable of intercepting ballistic missiles, including intercontinental ballistic missiles.
Singh said that DRDO has successfully demonstrated several key technologies that strengthen countries’ defense capabilities against threats from various kinds of enemy nations.
He said that the multilayer ballistic missile defense capability had been successfully demonstrated, and that the intercepting missiles had successfully struck their respective targets.
To counter the growing missile threats, these systems have been designed and developed with the latest technologies, and during the first test of the Navy’s new anti-ship missile, which can travel medium distances and strike ships, a demonstration of medium-range ship defense was carried out. He said this has further strengthened the country’s maritime defense capability.
Furthermore, DRDO Chairman Rajesh Kumar Singh expressed appreciation for the coordinated efforts of the defence sector and industrial partners, and said that this test had been successfully carried out in a very short time.
With this successful test, India has joined the ranks of the very few leading countries in the world that possess the capability to intercept and destroy even intercontinental nuclear missiles in mid-air. Through this, the country’s land, air, and maritime security capabilities have been strengthened many times over.

எதிரி நாடுகளின் அணு ஆயுதம் தாங்கிய ஏவுகணை அச்சுறுத்தல்களை முறியடிக்கும் நோக்கில், நாட்டின் பாதுகாப்பு ஆராய்ச்சி மற்றும் மேம்பாட்டு அமைப்பு(டிஆர்டிஓ), பல அடுக்கு பாலிஸ்டிக் ஏவுகணை பாதுகாப்புத் திறனை நிரூபிக்கும் வகையில் அடுத்தடுத்து மூன்று ஏவுகணை சோதனைகளை வெற்றிகரமாக நடத்தியுள்ளது.

இந்த இடைமறித்து தாக்கி அழிக்கும் ஏவுகணைகளை வளிமண்டலத்திற்கு உள்ளேயும், வெளியேயும் உள்ள பகுதிகளில் 2 ஆயிரம் கி.மீ முதல் 5 ஆயிரம் கி.மீ தூரத்தில் உள்ள எதிரி நாடுகளின் ஏவுகணைகளை கண்டறிந்தும், பின்னர் அதனை செயலிழக்கச் செய்யும் வகையில் வடிவமைப்பட்டிருந்தன.
