DMK candidate Inigo Irudayaraj has filed a case in the Madras High Court seeking to have Chief Minister Joseph Vijay’s victory in the Tiruchi East Assembly constituency declared invalid.
In the Tamil Nadu Assembly election, TVK leader Vijay contested and won in two constituencies, Tiruchi East and Perambur. He later resigned from Tiruchi East.
In this situation, DMK candidate Inigo Irudayaraj, who contested against him, has submitted a petition to the Madras High Court seeking to have Vijay’s victory in Tiruchi East declared invalid.
In that petition, he stated the following:
“Since Vijay, who won in Tiruchi East, has resigned his membership, he should be declared the winner.
Since children under the age of 18 were used for election campaigning, he should be deemed to have engaged in electoral violations, and his victory should be declared invalid.
Furthermore, until this election case is concluded, the Election Commission should be restrained from issuing a notification for a by-election to that constituency,” he has stated.
In the Tiruchi East Legislative Assembly constituency, Vijay, who contested, won by a margin of 27,416 votes, securing 91,381 votes. DMK candidate Inigo Irudayaraj received 63,965 votes.
Previously, it is noteworthy that AIADMK candidate Prabhu also filed a case in the Chennai High Court challenging Minister Sengottaiyan’s victory in Gobichettipalayam.

18 வயதுக்குட்பட்ட குழந்தைகளை தேர்தல் பிரசாரத்துக்கு பயன்படுத்தியதால், தேர்தல் விதிமீறலில் ஈடுபட்டதாக கருதி, அவரின் வெற்றியை செல்லாது என அறிவிக்க வேண்டும்.
மேலும், இந்த தேர்தல் வழக்கு முடியும் வரை அந்த தொகுதிக்கு இடைத்தேர்தலுக்கான அறிவிப்பை வெளியிட தேர்தல் ஆணையத்துக்கு தடை விதிக்க வேண்டும்” எனக் குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார்.
