A 43-year-old woodcutter from Valliyur in Nellai district has two wives. The first wife has a son and a daughter. On February 5th of last year, the girl’s health deteriorated. Her mother took her to a nearby hospital. From there, she was referred to Nellai Government Hospital for further treatment. Upon examination, doctors stated that the girl was five months pregnant. The Valliur All Women Police Station registered a case and conducted an investigation regarding this. On August 27th, 2024, when the girl’s mother had gone to the temple, it was discovered that the girl’s father had sexually abused her. It was also revealed that the father had threatened her not to disclose the incident and that she had been sexually abused multiple times.
Following this, the girl's father was arrested and imprisoned in Palayamkottai Central Jail. DNA samples from the fetus in the girl and from the father were sent to the laboratory. After a 7-month investigation, the results released on October 10 revealed that the father was responsible for the girl's pregnancy. This case had been ongoing in the Nellai Special Court for the past 11 months. In this context, Judge Sureshkumar delivered a 66-page verdict. The court premises stated, "Even if the court intends to impose the minimum sentence in this case, the wife and the affected girl have requested that the maximum punishment be given."
A father cannot accept mistreatment of his own daughter. Therefore, the maximum punishment of the death penalty is awarded to him," the verdict stated.

”இந்த வழக்கில் நீதிமன்றம் குறைந்தபட்ச தண்டனை வழங்க நினைத்தாலும், மனைவியும் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட சிறுமியும் உச்சபட்ச தண்டனை வழங்க வேண்டும் எனக் கோரிக்கை விடுத்துள்ளனர். சொந்த மகளையே தந்தை வன்கொடுமை செய்தை ஏற்க முடியாது. அதனால், அவருக்கு உச்சபட்ச தண்டனையான தூக்கு தண்டனை வழங்கப்படுகிறது” என தீர்ப்பில் கூறியுள்ளார்.
