Thousands of students who have qualified in the JEE Advanced 2026 exam and are awaiting their CBSE Class 12 revaluation are closely watching announcements related to IIT admission eligibility.

Amid growing demands in the IIT admission counselling process for a one-time relaxation in entering Class 12 marks, IIT Roorkee Director Kamal Kishore Pant, who is the chairman of the Joint Admission Board (JAB), has issued important information for students who have qualified in JEE Advanced.

This announcement has come amid widespread confusion among parents and students over delays in the CBSE re-evaluation process following the introduction of the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system this year.

Meanwhile, 12th-grade students who have already cleared the JEE (Advanced) exam and have also applied for re-evaluation are waiting for the results, and are worried about their chances of admission to the IITs.

With the JoSAA counselling process having begun, students are dissatisfied because there is no certainty about whether the revised marks needed to meet the basic eligibility criteria for IIT admissions will arrive on time.

Therefore, taking into account the issues of the current year, students have urged that a certain relaxation be granted in the eligibility criteria for Class 12 students.

In the explanation given by the IIT Admissions Board in response to students’ demands, it has clarified that when students from various education boards apply for IIT admissions, it is not possible to relax the basic eligibility conditions for students from any particular board.

The existing rules were announced clearly in advance. When students who have studied under the 36 different education boards in the country apply for IIT admissions, relaxation cannot be granted to students from any specific board. It has been stated that steps will be taken to ensure that CBSE students who have qualified for the JEE Advanced exam are not affected.

Earlier, on June 1, Roorkee IIT Director Pant said that students who have passed the Advanced exam, regardless of their current Class 12 percentage marks, should participate in the JoSAA counseling.

This year, more than 56,000 students have passed the JEE Advanced exam, which is 4.6 percent higher than last year. Of these, 46,773 are boys and 10,107 are girls. This is the first time that so many girls have passed.

They will participate in the counseling for 18,951 BTech seats across the 23 IITs in the country. It is mandatory that they must have secured at least 75 percent marks in Class 12.

முன்னதாக, ஜூன் 1ஆம் தேதி ரூர்கி ஐஐடி இயக்குநர் பந்த் பேசுகையில், அட்வான்ஸ்டு தேர்வில் தேர்ச்சி பெற்ற மாணவர்கள் தற்போதைய 12 ஆம் வகுப்பு மதிப்பெண் சதவீத நிலையைப் பொருட்படுத்தாமல். ஜேஓஎஸ்ஏஏ கலந்தாய்வில் பங்கேற்குமாறு கேட்டுக் கொண்டார்.
