The officials of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department had recently completed tendering for the tulsi shop, prasadam stall, car parking, and other facilities associated with the famous “Puthur” Andal Temple. The ruling party MLA from that constituency, who came to know of this only later, directly called a senior temple official and reportedly asked, “How did you issue the tender without even informing me?”
The female official, who was used to speaking in a “high pitch” all the time, reportedly shot back, “This is the usual procedure. We don’t even inform the minister about all this... why should we tell you?”
Following this, the MLA reportedly contacted the top leadership about this matter and complained, “This lady is still in Sun Party mentality. That’s why she gives all the temple tenders only to people from the Sun Party.”
Following this, it appears that the tender has been canceled. But when the concerned woman officer was asked about this, she reportedly brushed it off, saying, “We haven’t canceled it. Since some corrections need to be made, we have put the tender on hold.”
