During the inquiry at the registration department regarding this matter, two lawyers representing Ajit Pawar's son appeared in person and argued that since the government registration had been canceled, there was no need to pay the stamp duty. However, the registration department rejected their argument and ordered the payment of the pending stamp duty of Rs. 21 crore along with a fine of Rs. 1.5 crore within two months. Officials have stated that lawyers will no longer be called to speak on this matter. However, legal experts have said that stamp duty must be paid only if both parties jointly cancel a deed, and if the cancellation is done by the government side, there is no need to pay the stamp duty. Opposition parties have accused the state government of favoring Ajit Pawar's son by quietly resolving this land fraud case, which caused a major uproar.

ஆனால் ஒரு பத்திர பதிவை இரண்டு தரப்பினரும் சேர்ந்து ரத்து செய்தால் மட்டுமே முத்திரை தீர்வை செலுத்தவேண்டும் என்றும், அரசு தரப்பில் ரத்து செய்தால் முத்திரை தீர்வை செலுத்தவேண்டிய அவசியம் இல்லை என்று சட்டவல்லுனர்கள் தெரிவித்துள்ளனர். பெரும் பரபரப்பை ஏற்படுத்திய இந்த நில மோசடியை மாநில அரசு அஜித் பவார் மகனுக்கு சாதமாக முடித்து வைத்துள்ளதாக எதிர்க்கட்சிகள் குற்றம் சாட்டியுள்ளன.
