Tirunelveli: In the case filed alleging that the government suffered a loss of Rs. 1.20 crore due to the approval granted to plots belonging to a private company in the Kalakkad municipality of Tirunelveli district, the court has sentenced former municipal chairman and DMK union secretary P.C. Rajan to 3 years in prison.
From 2011 to 2016, P.C. Rajan served as the chairman of Kalakkadu Town Panchayat. It was later found that he and Muthukumar, who was then the executive officer, together caused a loss of Rs. 1.20 crore to the government by approving plots on 74 acres of land for a private party in that area (plot approval).
